About HGS

HGS was set up in 2014 by Richard Baum and Daryl Phillips.

Both Richard and Daryl fulfilled good playing careers. Richard spent his early years as a young academy player aged 15 at crystal palace before eventually signing for Spurs at 17 years old. From Tottenham Richard moved to Sutton united to play in the Vauxhall conference league. Daryl followed a slightly different path and made his name as a young promising forward at Wingate and Finchley. It was apparent that Daryl had an eye for goal and become the leading goal scorer for GB at the world Macabbi games. He also is the leading goal scorer in Maccabi football. Both Daryl and Richard started there coaching and managerial journeys and it was here that the long term dream was to create something special, and build their own club from scratch.

We owe these boys a great deal. When I was younger we played in a park and that was about it. This season HGS have taken my sons under 7 team to play Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham. The opportunities and experiences they provide are amazing.

I have 2 daughters that are mad about football. There is not much available for girl’s football compared to boys and we found our girls playing football with the boys. We were introduced to HGS by some friends and these guys provide a wonderful platform for girl’s football. They have their own girl’s league which is fun competitive and a good level. In fact one of my girls was scouted by spurs at one of the HGS training sessions.

We have been with Daryl and Richard from day 1 when there were only a few kids involved. It’s unbelievable really to see how far they have come in what is relatively a short space of time. The level of coaching is very high and they really do care for the kids and their development.

The club started in a local park with 10 kids and we currently have over 750 students between the ages of 3-18, attending our coaching sessions on a weekly basis, making us one of the largest grassroots football academies in London. The ethos of the club is to provide a wonderful football journey through the highest level of coaching in a fun and safe environment. Seeing your child develop with confidence is what motivates us.
